Summer 2012 Swavesey Village College celebrated another set of outstanding GCSE results.
Swavesey Village College recorded its best ever GCSE results this year with 84% of students receiving five or more A*-C Grades including English and Maths. This represents a 5% increase on last year. 99% of pupils at the College recorded five or more A*-C grades overall.
33 pupils gained 10 or more A* or A grades, and 84 students were awarded five or more A* or A's.
We are obviously delighted with these results. We have shown that comprehensive education can work for every student, with students of all abilities and talents achieving excellent results. Swavesey was rated 4th in the country for non-selective state schools by the Sunday Times in November 2011.
This level of achievement reflects Swavesey’s uncompromising commitment to providing a personalised curriculum, high quality learning and guidance, with excellent support from parents, to enable every student to achieve their full potential.
Congratulations to all of our students and best wishes for the future. We would also like to recognise and thank both staff and parents who have worked hard to support our students' achievement.

The performance tables for all Secondary Schools in England highlight a number of successes for SVC and the Y11 students who left in July 2011.
On the back of the recent recognition in the Times, that Swavesey was the 4th place State (non-selective) comprehensive school in England for A*-A achievement, Swavesey has continued to place very highly in the county and nationally on a wide range of measures, representing the contribution staff at the college make to the significant achievements of all its students.
Swavesey has been listed in the top 10 State Comprehensive schools in England on the English Baccalaureate measure (54% of students achieved at least a C grade or above in English, Maths, 2 Science GCSEs, a Modern Foreign Language and one of either History or Geography). Within the county this measure places the college above a number of local Independent Schools.
The Value Added measure of 1031 was the best in the county by some margin and reflects the fact that students who come to Swavesey achieve on average 1 grade better in 5 different subjects than if they were to go to a nationally average school.
The headline figure of 84% 5A*-C for results in August 2012 (including English and Maths) places SVC as the top school in the county. This demonstrates the on-going commitment and dedication of all staff and particularly those in core teams to maintain and develop high levels of achievement for every student at the College.
These results are a credit to the students, parents and teaching staff of this year group and the culmination of five years of dedication and hard work on the part of all involved. The focus continues to be very clearly on our current year groups and staff are working with the current Year 11s (and their parents) to support them in achieving the qualifications necessary to give them best possible start and enable them to progress to the most appropriate destination at 16.
