Year 7 Food Technology
During their 13 week module all students follow the Licence to Cook module as well as taking part in the Active Kids Bronze Award Challenge. The content in their food booklet and the Licence to Cook website covers the following four areas:
- Cooking skills
- Wise food shopping
- Diet and nutrition
- Safety and hygiene
Practical work focuses on food preparation skills where students will be given opportunities to practice food hygiene, knife skills and develop cooking skills. They will also be able to experiment with ingredients. The expectation is that students will provide the necessary ingredients for their practical work.
Students are encouraged to work independently and to evaluate the success of their products. There are lots of opportunities for students to reflect on their overall progress in DT by referring to the level descriptors.
