German Exchange
Every two years we spend nearly a fortnight at our partner school, Graf Eberhard Gymnasium school, Germany, and then German exchange partners come back to us later in the same year for a similar period. We spend a few days in the school, go on visits and walks and enjoy the hills and valleys of the area, and the very German atmosphere of the region.
The students stay with their partners and see the others in the group almost every day, so that they feel supported and have teachers and friends around if they are needed. We have been going to Bad Urach for twenty years now, and we feel there is a strong bond between us and the town and school in Germany. The students always find the German leg interesting and in some ways better than the English half of the project-they like the lack of uniform, the hills and the small town atmosphere. They become integrated into the family and life quite quickly, they have to cope with the language and they learn something of the customs and traditions of Southern Germany. They return with a confidence and a competence in German which makes them stand out and gives them memories for life and an experience which lasts.
The exchange is for Y8 students, contact Mr Elbourn for more information here.
