The Energy Monitors Club

G BugThe Energy Monitors Club work in partnership with staff from GEO Ltd. to promote the reduction in wasted energy and to move the school towards being a greener community.

The club has been involved in a range of projects so far and is currently engaged in the 'Npower - Green SOS' competition.

Previous projects have involved;

Working with GEO Ltd. to establish a pilot project for monitoring and reducing the electricity used in schools

Helping to establish the Colleges new 'Global and Environmental Research Centre' which was officially opened by Professor David Bellamy

Successfully bidding for EEDA funding to establish a community energy project which we would like to involve all aspects of the community from Primary schools to Scout groups, parish councils and other community groups.

Producing a DVD to promote energy saving for the NPower 'green SOS' Competition

The most important role of the energy Monitors is to promote energy saving in their own house within the school and to encourage all students and staff to prevent wated electricity usage. This has allowed the energy saving project to become part of the 'Swavesey Super League' and house points are awarded for the house which reduces its electricity usage the most each half term.

We have even created our own web site which shows how much money we have saved this year compared to last years electricity usage.

The club meets every Thursday at 3.10 in PC10, come and join us.....
