The Theatre Company

The theatre company was set up in 1995 primarily to give opportunities for those in years 9-11 to improve their performance skills and focus on stage/theatre craft. We also wanted to make the best use possible of the college Drama Studio and therefore all theatre company performances (with a couple of exceptions, see below) have been presented to a maximum audience of 50 in the studio. It’s an ideal space and some very powerful drama has been presented over the years. The idea behind the company was that it would be run by the students and supported by teachers within the drama department. Therefore, it is the students who act, direct, stage manage, design and build set and operate sound for all the performances. Since 1995, the theatre company has directed and performed the following plays:

Our Day Out by Willy Russell 1995
Find me by Olwyn Wymark 1996

A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare – open air in the college grounds ‘97

Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare – open air in the college grounds 1998

Blood Brothers by Willy Russell 1999
Murder in the Red Barn 2000
Hard to Swallow by Mark Wheeler 2001
Dash through the decades – devised by the Company 2002
Sylvia Plath – a dramatic portrait 2003
Teechers by John Godber 2004
Missing – Dan Nolan by Mark Wheeler - 2005 (festival entry)
Murder in the Red Barn 2006 (festival entry)
