Year 7 & 8 Systems and Control

This course is currently being used for both year 7 & 8.

Students look at how computers control machines in everyday situations.  They create flowcharts to visually process tasks using software called Yenka.  Examples of systems they create in Yenka include:

·         Coffee machines

·         Traffic lights

·         Central Heating Systems

·         Air Conditioning System for a Greenhouse

As students develop their skills, we begin to program Smart Boxes connected to physical hardware such as:

·         Automatic Doors

·         Conveyor Belt

·         Elevator System

We encourage independent learning as much as we can with the aim of students becoming capable, self-reliant and self-motivated learners.  All work is set and submitted using our Virtual Learning Environment. This enables students to gain access to all of their lessons or homework from home.
