Year 9

yr9 1The aim for Year 9 students:
• To develop the potential for further study of Art and Design.
• Develop and realise ideas and outcomes, exploring and reviewing possible solutions and modifying work appropriately.
• Understand and use safely a range of materials, equipment, processes and techniques in two and three dimensions, using information and communication technology where appropriate.

Year 9 is an important year for the students, during the spring term they decided upon their subjects for KS4.

Art lessons this year become more focused and skills even more complex. Research becomes more thorough and informative to work and design ideas must be thoroughly thought through before final designs are tackled.

yr9 2Observational drawing is still a key skill to all design work this year, 3D skills involve ceramic, wire frame and card. A greater degree of skill is required from students and a developing understanding of the 3D form.

During the spring term a GCSE style exam is given to students. This involves a painting/drawing exercise during lessons within a set time.

This serves to give students a taste of the Art courses in Year 10 and 11.
